If you enjoy the friendly nature of a decent bar or pub then you will love Queenstown. They have pubs and bars to appeal to a wide range of tastes, whether you are looking for a sports bar, where you can cheer on the local league heroes, or a more intimate setting and a meal, Queenstown has a variety of places to choose from. Here are just two of them.

The Surreal Bar is an experience in itself. Featuring the classic dark leather seating booths, very intimate lighting and a combination of good food and eclectic music, and you have a night to remember. The food is all organic and made wherever possible from local produce. The Surreal bar is open for lunch and dinner and when you have finished having your evening meal then stick around for the DJ that plays a wide selection of music appealing to a wide range of tastes from 10pm.

The Frankton Arm Tavern has some great lake views that you can enjoy while sitting in their open beer garden, complete with open fire. Open for a lunch and dinner seven days a week the bar also has a full TAB racing terminal that will allow you to place your wagers on a wide range of racing and sports events around Australia and New Zealand, while you are enjoying your meal. There is also a courtesy coach that will pick you up and drop you off again at the end of your evening. Address: 14 Yewlett Crescent, Queenstown.


Minus 5 is an ice bar where everything is made of ice. Only short stays are possible. Located at Steamer Wharf next to the lake.
